Donau-Auen National Park

Situated between the European capitals Vienna and Bratislava, the Donau-Auen National Park preserves the last remaining major wetlands in Central Europe. In this stretch the Danube is still natural and free flowing. The total area of the Donau-Auen National Park is relatively modest at 9,300 ha. However, the biodiversity found here is absolutely unique in all of Central Europe. Over 800 vascular plant species, more than 30 mammals, 100 breeding birds, eight reptiles, 13 amphibian species as well as around 60 fish species live on the park grounds

While in the park, visitors can go on guided walking tours or on boats to explore the fascinating world of the Donau-Auen National Park.
